Cidade e imigração: A freguesia de Santo Antônio e o cotidiano dos galegos nos logradouros cariocas (1880-1930)

Abstract

Based on the context of a city in rapid and significant transformation as was the Rio de Janeiro for the period in question, this article discusses the nature of Galician immigrants who inhabited the Santo Antônio between 1880 and 1930. Similarly, based the analysis of the relevant documentation, discusses the form of social integration that immigrant in the space, his professional activities, niches of expertise and difficulties in that city space. The article seeks to intersect data of these immigrants in their home sites with data on the occupation of these Galician carioca this parish.
