Abstract

This paper reviews the terms used to describe those major “fades” and terranes that have been identified and interpreted from the characteristics of North Island basement rocks. The boundaries between tracts of country which contain those rocks are located and described from their major rock supergroups/groups. I conclude that: © Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
