Abstract

Densities of Cu-Sn, Cu-Fe, Cu-Co and Cu-Ni alloys were measured by the maximum bubble pressure method at temperatures between melting and 1650 C. The deviation of molar volume from ideal mixing was positive in Cu-Fe and Cu-Co alloys and negative in the Cu-Sn alloy. The deviation in Cu-Ni alloys changes from positive to negative with increase in temperature. The physical properties of Cu-Sn alloys are discussed in terms of the effect of clusters.
