Abstract

This chapter begins with the need, challenges and introduction of thermal energy storage systems (TESS). Next, the details of the most sustainable and widely used thermal energy storage systems (TESS) are delineated. Applications of TESS are highlighted with an objective of increasing the interest of readers towards the implementation and development of such systems for their thermal needs. TESS's are classified into two main categories such as sensible and latent heat storage. Latest trends of the research on performance improvement are also delineated.
