Abstract

This study aims to get simulation results for the energy capacity and capacity factor of wind turbine type Wind Energy Solutions 80 kW in the Special Region of Yogyakarta at heights of 30m, 60m, and 90m. Energy capacity and capacity factors were calculated using the RETScreen Expert software simulation, beginning with gathering monthly wind speed data from the Special Region of Yogyakarta for use in simulations with height and wind turbine variations. This study indicates that wind turbine type Wind Energy Solutions 80 kW is best suited for installation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta with annual energy capacities of 42.6 MWh, 54.1 MWh, and 63.1 MWh, for heights of 30m, 60m, and 90m, respectively. Meanwhile, the capacity factors for 30m, 60m, and 90m are 6.1%, 7.7%, and 9.0%, respectively. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the wind turbine type Wind Energy Solutions 80 kW is a viable future alternative for the planned construction of a power plant in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. With the wind speed and a power capacity that is not excessively high, it is suitable as a wind turbine type for the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
