Abstract
The article aims to identify if the infrastructure of schools and public investments in education contribute to an increase in educational performance. For this purpose,a school infrastructure index was created and, afterwards, quantile regression modelswere estimated, based on information on education expenditures, Index of Developmentof Basic Education - Ideb, and schools obtained in the Basic Education School Censusfor the years of 2007 and 2017. The main results showed that the implementation ofinfrastructure by the municipality influences the quality of education. In general, themunicipality that lacks administrative mechanisms aimed at the management of educationreduces its capacity to efficiently apply the resources destined to the sector
