Abstract
This paper analyses the residential areas of Split after the Second World War, from the housing shortage (1945-1957), programmed construction (1958-1970), and construction of Split 3(1971-1990), to the uncontrolled building after 1991. It presents the characteristics of the Split housing facilities, as well as the carried out typology of housing estates. A new uncontrolled development of the Split housing estates has brought to the environment devastation and intensification of economic and social problems of the city.
