Abstract
Two new steroidal saponins were isolated from the Chinese folk medicine called Gualou-xiebai-baijiu-tang. The structures were determined to be spirost 25(27)-ene-2β,3β-diol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→ 2)-β-D-galactopyranoside and 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-22 α-hydroxy-5 β-furost-25(27)-ene-1β,3β,6β,26-tetraol-3- O-β-D-galactopyranoside, respectively, based on chemical evidences and spectral analysis. © 2002 Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
