Abstract
Neuropathic pain is caused by damage or disease affecting the central and peripheral nervous system. Central neuropathic pain is found in spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis and some strokes. Common causes of peripheral neuropathies are infection, some metabolic conditions, immune deficiency, toxins and trauma. Neuropathic pain treatment represents a major, still unsolved problem. Different drugs and other approaches achieve only partial neuropathic pain relief.
