Abstract
Chromium and manganese in cementite decreased the lattice parameters as a result of a reduction in magnetostriction, while molybdenum increased them without a large variation in magnetostriction. Nickel decreased the lattice parameters, although it had a tendency to increase magnetostriction. When steel or cast iron is annealed, the chemical compositions, inclusive of carbon, of the cementite vary with annealing temperature, hence the lattice parameters also depend on annealing temperature.
