Abstract

Coupling agents can have a major effect on the various properties of wood-plastic composites. In this study, the effects of maleated polypropylene and -methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane as coupling agents on the mechanical and moisture resistance properties of wood-polypropylene composites containing recycled mineral wool are investigated. The spraying method was used to apply -methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane on the wood fibers and recycled mineral wool fibers. According to the findings, the utilization of maleated polypropylene as a coupling agent led generally to better mechanical and moisture resistance properties, but treatment with -methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane provided comparable properties on certain filler loadings and treatment solution concentrations.
