Abstract
In this paper, MFe2 O4 (M = Ca, Mg and Ni) ferrite graphene oxide composites (MFe2 O4-GO) were prepared by a one-pot solvothermal reaction. MFe2 O4-GO and MFe2 O4 were characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The adsorption performance of MFe2 O4 and MFe2 O4-GO were studied using acridine orange as model. The influence factors of adsorption performance such as pH, adsorption time, initial concentration, NaCl concentration and reusability were investigated. The experimental results revealed that the adsorption capacity of MFe2 O4-GO for acridine orange was significantly higher than that of MFe2 O4 . It can be found that the adsorption capacity of different MFe2 O4-GO in the following order: MgFe2 O4-GO > NiFe2 O4-GO > CaFe2 O4-GO. The adsorp-tion process of MFe2 O4-GO for acridine orange conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich isothermal model. MFe2 O4-GO can be reused five times. The adsorption interaction of acridine orange with MFe2 O4-GO is mainly electrostatic attraction. MFe2 O4-GO has practical application value in wastewater treatment as adsorbent.
