Abstract

A specimen of Ganoderma subgen. Elfvingia (P. Karst.) Imazeki was collected from hardwood in Miami, Florida in 1991, and pure cultures were established. This single collection was identified as G. australe (Fr.) Pat. based on morphology of the basidiocarp, cultural studies and mating tests between the dikaryotic cultures from Florida and monokaryotic cultures of G. australe TAI-01 from Taiwan. This is the first verification that G. australe occurs in the United States.
