Abstract

Combination treatments with agents that inhibit protease and reverse transcriptase of HIV-1 decrease mortality and slow disease progression. Hecht et al report a case of transmission of an HIV-1 variant with multiple mutations that conferred resistance to both protease inhibitors and reverse-transcriptase inhibitors.
