Abstract

Garcia et al. report the utility of pharmacological activation of the adenosine A 2A receptor (A 2A R) in preserving renal function, reversing fibrosis, and reducing macrophage infiltration and inflammatory activation in rat nephrotoxic nephritis. The role of A 2A R activation in determining outcome in renal inflammation is discussed. © 2011 International Society of Nephrology.
