Abstract
Summary: Two patients with severe respiratory disturbance following burning accidents are described. It is suggested that smoke inhalation injuries may in future present a more frequent problem in the intensive therapy unit, and the mechanisms of the disorder and its treatment are discussed. © 1975 Macmillan Journals Ltd.
