Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women remains a serious health issue that poses risks for complications, and adherence to Antenatal Care (ANC) visits plays a crucial role in preventing CED. Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the link between the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women in the East Kelayan Public Health Center's operating region in Banjarmasin City in 2025 and ANC visit adherence. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional, analytical observational design with a sample of thirty-two third-trimester pregnant women chosen using complete sampling. An ANC adherence questionnaire and Upper Arm Circumference (UAC) measures entered into the Maternity Health Book (Buku KIA) were used to gather data. The Spearman Rank test was used to analyze the data. Results: The findings demonstrated a strong correlation between the incidence of CED and ANC visit adherence, Having a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.547 and a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), suggesting a moderate to significant negative link. The risk of CED decreases with increasing adherence to ANC visits. Conclusion: It is anticipated that this study would offer suggestions for healthcare professionals to enhance teaching and interventions to enhance ANC adherence as a strategy for preventing CED in pregnant women.
