Abstract
The background of this research is based on the lack of availability of hands-on activity-based physics learning modules so that it is necessary to develop teaching modules that can improve conceptual understanding through real experiences. This study aims to determine the feasibility of hands-on activity-based modules in physics learning and to determine the effectiveness of hands-on activity-based modules in physics learning. In this study using research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). The results of the material feasibility test obtained a percentage of 94% and the media feasibility test with a percentage of 88% which indicates that the module is very feasible and meets the established criteria. The subjects in this module development research were students of class XI A at Karitas Catholic High School Tomohon. Based on statistical tests (mann-whitney test) obtained a significance value of 0.001 <0.05 which indicates that there is a significant difference in posttest scores between the experimental and control classes. Thus it can be concluded that the development of hands-on activity-based modules in physics learning to improve understanding of physics concepts on the material of the 1st law of thermodynamics at Karitas Catholic High School Tomohon is feasible and effective for use in learning. The availability of this hands-on activity-based teaching module can bridge theory and practice, making it easier for teachers to create an interactive learning atmosphere that is centered on students' direct experiences and in-depth understanding of concepts.
