Contributions to the teaching of quantum mechanics from the analysis of the complexity of questions present in ENADE in the light of revised Bloom's taxonomy

Abstract

In this research, we study the National Examination of Student Performance (ENADE, in Portuguese), considering the Revised Bloom's Taxonomy (RBT), in the context of Quantum Mechanics (QM) in an undergraduate Physics course. This taxonomy allows us to classify the required learning in a question considering the dimension of knowledge (effective/factual, conceptual, procedural and metacognitive) and the cognitive processes (remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate and create) mobilized in its resolution. The results show a prevalence of questions classified in the lower levels of the cognitive domain of the RBT (remember and understand) and a near absence of questions in the higher levels. Moreover, our analysis reveals that students did not understand quantum concepts. These results corroborate the need for studies and proposals that allow future adjustments in the teaching of QM in physics teacher training courses, taking into account what is expected of the future teacher profile.
