Abstract
A radical with great implications: Matrix-isolated CF3O radicals interact with SO2 yielding CF3OSO2. (see picture) when the matrix is annealed at 35 K. The new radical was characterized spectroscopically and studied by DFT calculations. CF 3OSO2. may have significant impact on atmospheric processes.
