Abstract
Some new hypercoordinated silicon compounds containing -NCS moiety have been synthesized in high yields by the reaction of diethoxyisothiocyanatosilane with Schiff base ligands such as bis-salicylideneethylenediamine (1), bis-salicylidene-o-phenylenediamine (2) and salicylidene-o-aminophenol (3). The ligands were obtained by the refluxing of HO-C6H4-C(O)R [where R = H, CH3] and corresponding amine followed by cooling in an ice bath. The silicon compounds were prepared in acetonitrile and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy and multinuclear (1H, 13C and 29Si) NMR spectroscopy.
