Abstract

Some new hypercoordinated silicon compounds containing -NCS moiety have been synthesized in high yields by the reaction of diethoxyisothiocyanatosilane with Schiff base ligands such as bis-salicylideneethylenediamine (1), bis-salicylidene-o-phenylenediamine (2) and salicylidene-o-aminophenol (3). The ligands were obtained by the refluxing of HO-C 6H 4-C(O)R [where R = H, CH 3] and corresponding amine followed by cooling in an ice bath. The silicon compounds were prepared in acetonitrile and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy and multinuclear ( 1H, 13C and 29Si) NMR spectroscopy.
