Uterus Didelphys and Pregnancy

Abstract

A double uterus is clinically known as uterus didelphys. Uterus didelphys is an embryologic deformity resulting from failure of fusion of the Mullerian ducts. The occurrence is low in the general population. Uterus didelphys is associated with urinary tract abnormalities. Women with uterus didelphys are at higher risk for spontaneous abortion and premature labor. Cervical incompetence may be increased for women with this condition. Presented is a case study of a woman with complete uterus didelphys and her successful full-term singleton pregnancy.
