Honesty with the real

Abstract

This article explores the re-politization of art that is taking place nowadays, with the aim to go beyond the duality representation/transformation as the two activities of political art. It proposes the concept of "honesty with the real", as a way to think about art as a form of treatment. How do we handle reality and deal with reality? This question leads us to think about affect as a form of violence and to propose a new sense of engagement and intervention. © 2012 M. Garcés.
