Abstract

Understanding local knowledge of the social capital of the community surrounding the forest in relation to the Community Plantation Forests (HTR) initiative was the aim of this study. The technique employed is a survey using a semi-structured questionnaire that was modified using the Social Capital Assessment Tool (SCAT). The majority of the population in the study village is of a productive age, which gives the community in the village potential. The majority of them have a high school diploma, indicating a rather high level of education. The amount of income in the community is still quite moderate. Older settlers who are predominately locals make up the population, which is fairly diverse in terms of ethnicity, religion, and place of origin. The social capital and community features in the study villages ought to be able to sustainably support and contribute to the capability of community-based forest management. The findings indicated that the study village's social capital fell into the high range. To foster the development of individual and group independence and to close gaps, stakeholders must maintain, enhance, and focus on this social capital, particularly in Social Forestry (SF) development programs.
