Abstract

Amazonian floodplain forests have remarkable variation in tree diversity and structure related to flood duration. We assessed how floodplain forests respond to the continuum flooding gradient and found that Fisher's α values vary up to seven times across the landscape. Resumo: Florestas de várzea da Amazônia apresenta uma variação expressiva na diversidade de árvores e na estrutura florestal relacionada com a duração da inundação. Nós medimos como as florestas de várzea do Purus respondem a variação continua e gradual na inundação e encontramos que apenas atributos de diversidade responderam significativamente, sendo que os valores de Fisher's α variaram até sete vezes ao longo da paisagem.
