Abstract
Khaya senegalensis and Elaeis guineensis are two medicinal herbs used to treat various diseases such bacterial, viral, inflammatory and parasitic. This work gives a report on biological activities and the use of these two plants in animal health andtraditional medicine. Thus, after a botanical description and presentation of their local names, the chemical compositions of the various bodies of Khaya senegalensis and Elaeis guineensis were presented. It followed from there, the summary of the various medicinal and traditional uses of these plants in animal and human health. Moreover, some biological activities and the possible therapeutic indications were exposed and finally, the levels of toxicities presented for a better use of the various medicinal drug preparations. These two plants, nontoxic with moderate amounts are appraisals by the rural populations to look after and ensure the medical condition of their animals according to the availability and the effectiveness of these last. The various potentialities of the plants open the prospect for evaluation of the effectiveness of their extracts in control of cattle parasitic diseases and especially directed against the trypanosoma.
