Abstract

Error and medical (or radiological) practice has always been related very closely: one is inherent to the other. Nowadays is an important issue in our society, with a lot of denounces on TV news and newspapers remarking dramatic medical events, and emphasising the millions and millions of pesos spent in legal costs. These are adverse events that have gone to the courtroom; in those cases it is little about we can do as radiologists to improve the results. Our role to play in this drama is going to be a preventive one, acting over persons, systems with which we work in, and institutions. This approach will prevent the increasing tendency of litigation and hopefully will decrease it, ensuring an improvement in radiological attention and patient safety.
