En busca de una teología de la vocación en diálogo con Karl Rahner

Abstract

This article attempts to theologically understand the phenomenon of vocation from the thought of Karl Rahner. The German theologian approaches the vocation as an individual’sknowledge that a distinct way of life follows the divine will forhim. The itinerary through various areas of his theology supportsand deepens this understanding. The human being is a gracioushearer of the Word, which is spoken to him personally in thedeepest part of himself and in Jesus Christ. To that Word, thehuman being responds freely through his acts, which define hisidentity in a definitive way and in the face of God. Thus,Christians carry out their vocation in a particular following ofJesus specific to each person. Although vocations are alwaysoriented to the Church’s community, this does not rule outpossible conflicts between charism and institution
