Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the health behaviors and factors associated with young adult men seeking the Primary Care health service in the city of Mato Verde, Minas Gerais. This is a descriptive, quantitative study carried out with 213 men aged between 20 and 40 years. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive epidemiology. It was observed that men seek care in the presence of symptoms and signs (89.7%) and usually look for the service over a long period of time (43.2%). The search for Primary Care is influenced by the preference to seek care at the hospital (70.3%), the option for self-medication (65.2%), the delay in care (52%), and prioritization of work (50.2%). It is concluded that strategies shall be developed to shorten the distance and improve men's adherence to Primary Care services.
