Abstract

Nowadays, electronic nicotine administration systems (ENAS) have become very popular among the general population, specifically adolescents, however, the effects of these new devices on the health of consumers are not fully known, nor it is not known if it is a healthy alternative to reusing combustion or tobacco cigarettes as well as if it can be used as a therapy to stop smoking. This review aims to clarify and update the pathophysiological effects of these new cigarettes so that the medical and scientific community can understand them, as well to compare the damage in health generated by ENAS against combustion cigarette. The alternative hypothesis was confirmed by observing that the references that were used coincided in the damage to the organism due to the consumption of electronic cigarettes.
