Abstract
In this work we analyze, in the light of their physical foundation, the different methods of thickener design that have been proposed in the literature. We distinguish three types of methods: those based on macroscopic balances, those based on kinematic models and those based on dynamic models. This classification permits the analysis of thickener design procedures with a clear perspective of their applicability and limitations. © 1993, Hosokawa Powder Technology Foundation.
