Alterações da personalidade no lúpus eritematoso sistêmico

Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic and multisystem autoimmune disease that seriously affects the central nervous system (CSN). Although highly frequent, personality disorders have not been well studied in this population. This is the central target of this revision article, where we can see disagreement between many papers about the importance of personality traits and its alterations in the arising and evolution of the disease. There is controversy, too, about the etiology of personality disorders in SLE, questioning if they occur because of psychological stress, disease activity in the CSN or even for the use of corticosteroid therapy. To clarify these questions we certainly need further studies.
