Abstract

This research aims to describe the creative thinking process of 8th grade junior high school students in solving sequence of number problems based on Wallas theory. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this research consisted of 3 students, consisting of one student with high math ability, one student with moderate math ability, and one student with low math ability. The instruments in this research were open ended questions and interview guidelines. The results showed that all subjects were able to go through every stage of the creative thinking process based on Wallas' theory, but there were differences in each stage. In the preparation stage, students have different ways of processing information. At the incubation stage, students have differences in the number of incubations carried out. At the illumination stage, students have differences in the number of ideas generated and the indicators of creativity that are fulfilled. At the verification stage, students experience differences in verifying ideas and checking final answers.
