Abstract

As part of circular economy, reusable packaging is a key to reduce waste. In order not to ruin the intended sustainability impacts one must take care on the return transport of the reusable packaging and the according logistic concepts. This paper takes a first step in defining a catalogue of use cases to structure the different opportunities of the trip back of reusable packaging to senders. This catalogue is the base terminology to design, optimize and compare concepts regarding their impacts and to derive the according consequences for the entire logistic chain.
