Abstract

This article introduces Kraepelin's text on paranoia, taken from the seventh edition of his Treatise on Psychiatry (1904), translated into the Portuguese and published for the first time in 1905 in Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria, neurologia e ciências afins (Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry, Neurology and Related Sciences. The article indicates the place of paranoia in Kraepelin's nosology and discusses aspects of the diffusion of his ideas in Brazil. © 2009 University Association for Research in Fundamental Psychopathology.
