Abstract

A prospective study was carried out over a 3-year period on patients with one normo-tensive eye and one eye with ocular hypertension. A greater variability in the responses to visual field testing was apparent in the hypertensive eye, but only on comparison of serial visual fields. Analysis of the stereo disc photographs demonstrated larger cup to disc ratios in the hypertensive eye without changes in the nerve fibre layer to equate with the visual field response. Stereo disc photography is a quick and simple method of recording changes in the optic disc and should be considered in the follow-up of ocular hypertensive patients.
