Abstract
Control pollinated slash pine progenies were grown for 16 months in a phosphate deficient soil under four nutrient treatments: N 0 P 0 N 0 P 50 N 100 P 0 N 100 P 50 (in ppm). Analyses of growth parameters and nutrient content of seedlings indicated strong treatment effects. Genetic effects, also significant, were most pronounced in male × female and genotype × fertilizer treatment interactions. Nutrient accumulation in plant tissues had high genetic correlation with growth measurements. The nonadditive components of fertilizer response variance could be most fully exploited by establishment of two-clone orchards. Forest Sci. 22:211-219.
