Abstract

Archaeological and technological evidence, and texts of classical authors have made it possible to construct a picture of the art of gold working during the Iron Age in many places in Europe from which no locally written records exist. Influences from oriental and mediterranean cultures are discussed. © 1985 World Gold Council.
