Abstract
The Universidad Tecnológica Empresarial de Guayaquil has experienced rapid growth in response to environmental demands and new educational trends based on virtuality, which has led to the incorporation of professionals in different fields and diversification of student enrollment. In this context, it is intended to identify the current and desired organizational culture for the University, based on declared values and principles, its relationship with the classroom situation and institutional development. The OCAI and Denison survey is used, applied randomly to 125 members of the university, together with interviews and focus groups, under specific criteria to select the informants. The results show that the cultural profile of this University is a mixture of the four cultural “archetypes”, with a higher score for market culture; while the desired profile is the adhocratic one, but without presenting a considerable discrepancy with the current values. The qualitative assessment suggests that this organizational culture is assumed by the community in general, taking shape in a good atmosphere of coexistence between teachers and students. It is concluded that the mix of the cultural profile may have given flexibility to changes in the environment, resulting in a positive image of the institutional development trajectory.
