Arachis repens: Novo Hospedeiro de Puccinia arachidis

Abstract

Arachis repens was detected as a new host of Puccinia arachidis. Plants in the field presented salient orange pustules in the abaxial part of the leaves that, after adhesion, formed dark lesions with yellow halos. After microscopic analyses, two types of spores were identified - teliospores and uredospores - both of which are rarely seen. This is the first occurrence of the disease and of uredospore presence in this host.
