Abstract

Based on documentary sources, the article presents an analysis of women’s participation in politics and parliamentary activities in various countries of the world. The content and main provisions of the Kigali Declaration, which contains the Plan of Action of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to achieve equality between men and women in society, are revealed. The article characterizes the main provisions of the report “Women in Politics 2023”, dedicated to increasing the role of higher legislative bodies in promoting the principles of gender equality, and other international documents. The author of the article analyzed the effectiveness of the work of governments and parliaments to increase women’s participation of in government in various regions of the world: America, Europe, the Pacific region, Asia and the Middle East. The concept of increasing the role of women in government and political activity in line with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is presented.
