Ardisia imbakensis (Primulaceae) — A Remarkable New Large Leaved Species from Imbak Canyon, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo

Abstract

Ardisia imbakensis Utteridge & Julius (Primulaceae-Myrsinoideae), a new species of Ardisia subgenus Pyrgus, is described and illustrated from the Malaysian state of Sabah. Remarkable for the massive, elliptic leaves and the lateral reproductive branches with ovate to oblong foliose bracts, the new species is endemic to the Imbak Canyon Conservation Area in northern Borneo.
