Abstract

The processes of interdiffusion and chemical reaction in thin film systems are of great scientific and technological interest, and our understanding of them has been greatly helped by the study of gold films. In this review the author deals with fundamental advances in this field with particular reference to the systems of importance to the electronics industry. 17 refs.
