Abstract
Recent theoretical developments in Critical Theory seem to happen without great consideration for social research - neither for empirical "tests" of theoretical ideas, nor for launching new empirical research projects in the field of Critical Theory. This evolution suggests an important theoretical "shift" in comparison with the early horkheimerian dialectical program of Critical Theory. This tendency raises some difficulties linked to the productive articulation of theory and research - at the lost of both of them, philosophy and social sciences.
