Abstract
The supervision and maintenance of public roads is a state and local government task. In short, it is a public duty. On the contrary, there is a few information about the main and the secondary road network. The special condition, quality and traffic information of the road network, with meter accuracy, is not known. Nowadays, most of the time, the basic data of the road network (state, traffic, restriction, speed limit) are not known and cannot be studied. In Europe, there are few places where a meter-accurate survey has been made, and there are many variable-based databases that would allow for further renovation, development and future planning. The developed concept, aims to provide solutions for these, which assesses the physical and traffic condition of the roads, and based on these, proposes the implementation of a complex road information system. The proposed system covers three areas, such as (a) Road condition monitoring, (b) Traffic monitoring and (c) Monitoring of parking lots. The key question of smart city concept is the enhancement and availability of difference services while exploitation of large-scale data. This article offers a concept for a realization for a road information system.
