Abstract
Today's engineers have to possess a wide range of technical and non-technical skills to succeed at work. Due to missing practical experiences and poor soft- skills, new engineers often do not meet industries' demands. Thus, we developed a concept how to involve industrial companies in medical engineering education, the program ProMEB (project-oriented, Bachelor degree course Medical Engineering) at the University of Furtwangen. Industrial questions were addressed during studies under close supervision by university employees and industrial partners. Attending companies provided descriptions of multi-disciplinary problems considering industrial relevant aspects. On the other hand, participating students had the possibility to improve practical and personal skills. Consequently, the ProMEB program benefited both industrial companies and engineering students.
