Abstract

Diajukan Abrasion process in coast is caused by natural processes of hydro-oceanographic processes such as ocean wave impacts, fluctuations in sea levels and current resulting in the deterioration of the coastline and sedimentation. One of the attempts in tackling abrasion is by planting vegetation. Vegetation can dampen wave energy and has an important role in coastal protection. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on vegetations to find out the wave energy dissipation. The purpose of this study was to compare the results of laboratory research with numeric modeling by XBeach of wave dissipation. This research is based on laboratory physical modeling data that has been done by previous studies and which will be validated. The data used are domain model, wave data and vegetation characteristic (density, height and stem diameter of vegetation). The result of the numeric modeling resulted in an average wave dissipation of 66% and the validation test results in a good performance with an average RMSE value of 0.024.
