Abstract

The article explores the topic of digitalization of the EU economy in the context of conceptual approaches to this phenomenon and of assessment of its statics and dynamics. The measures taken by the EU and the national governments in order to support this new direction of scientific and technical progress are analyzed. The conceptual framework of the digitalization process is carried out, as well as the approaches to the assessment of the level, dynamics and the directions of development of information and communication technologies in the economy of the European countries and the region in general and their practice. The author compares these parameters with other countries and regions of economic avant-garde. Measures for the support of the digital technologies development within the framework of innovation and general economic policy are examined, in particular, the mid-term ones.
