Abstract

Antitumor polysaccharides were obtained from the aqueous extract of Flammulina velutipes (curt, ex fr.) sing.,one of popular edible mushrooms. Fractionation was made mainly using ultrafiltration, DEAE Sephadex adsorption and ethanol, precipitation. Two polysaccharides with high tumor inhibition were isolated and they were chemically different. One was a glucan and the other polysaccharide contained mainly glucose, galactose, mannose and arabinose. © 1973, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
