Abstract

The development of new technologies and uses of electrical energy, such as distributed energy resources, pose new challenges and business opportunities for the electricity industry. In favor of making better use of information so that companies can efficiently manage their assets (minimizing investment and operating costs while improving service quality) and users rationally managing their demand (making efficient use of available energy resources). In this sense, Chile is experiencing a paradigm shift in the electricity sector, mainly seeking to improve energy efficiency. In this work, a survey of particularities and problems of the Electricity Distribution Systems is carried out so that these are considered as inputs in the Transmission Planning models used in Chile, specifically of the Zonal Transmission.
